The Federal Executive Council, FEC, yesterday, approved contracts worth over N37 billion in its weekly meeting yesterday.

The breakdown shows that contract worth 11.41 billion was approved for power, while N18 billion was approved for the construction of a 10-storey building for EFCC.

This was made known by the Minister of Information and Communication, Professor Dora Akunyili, while briefing State House Correspondents, at the end of the FEC meeting, which was presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan.

The council approved the award of contract for the procurement of 150,000 units of transparent collapsible ballot papers at a unit price of N13,000 with total sum of N1.95 billion. The sum of N3 billion was appropriated for the procurement in the 2010 supplementary budget.

The Federal Capital Territory had three contracts which include rehabilitation of Gwagwalada-Dobi/Izom road in the Federal Capital city in the sum of N1.612 billion. It has a completion period of 12 months.

The contract is for the provision of engineering infrastructure in Maitama District, Abuja, in the sum of N1.814 billion. Completion period is 18 months and that for the provision of a 13 kilometre road from Kuje to Gaube in the sum of N1.29 billion, with completion period of 9 months.

Also the contract for the direct purchase of 31 truck mounted Bergkamp FP5 flameless potholes patchers was approved in the sum of N1.13 billion, with 12 months delivery period.

The council also approved contract for the engineering, procurement and construction of the 173km Katsina-Kurfi-Dutsinma-Kankara-Malumfashi 132Kv double circuit transmission line in the sum of $12,432,396.06 plus N1.313billion inclusive of a provisional sum of N262, 663, 179.75 for right of way compensation. The completion period is 24 months.

Also another contract for the engineering, procurement and construction of the 60km Daura-Dambattta 132Kv double circuit transmission line was approved in the sum of $3.886million plus N548.794.715.02 million inclusive of a provisional sum of N203,160,503.03 for Right of Way compensation. The project has a completion period of 18 months.
