Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State has charged  Nigerians to give total support to widows and the needy saying “they do not need handouts but opportunities to compete in a favourable environment.”

Governor Fashola made this appeal at the Lagos House, Marina during a courtesy visit by the Board of Trustee members and other officials of the Rose of Sharon Foundation, said “The African woman, the African child does not need handouts, just an opportunity to compete”, adding that when such opportunities are given, the sky is often the limit for such indigent people,.

His words “It is not surprising that children of widows and single mothers perform well because every success story is built on the foundation of adversity. When these children are given the opportunity, they most often perform exceptionally”.
