UGHELLI— THE Southern Mandate, SM, a political pressure group, has restated its resolved to support Chief Ovie Omo-Agege, a governorship hopeful in the forthcoming re-run election in Delta State.
Speaking during the inauguration of 12,000 canvassers for the group living in Burutu, Bomadi and Patani Local Government Areas, the Delta South Coordinator of SM, Mr. Victor Deinne, enjoined the canvassers to go into all parts of the local government areas to canvass support for Omo-Agege.
Also speaking on the occasion, National Coordinator of the group, Prince Alex Oyoro, said the group has formally decided to pitch tent with Omo-Agege because of the non- performance of the former state Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan.
He alleged that the past administration of Uduaghan brought hardship to majority of Deltans, saying “the presentation of a solid five step developmental programme by Omo-Agege, which will bring succour to the people as well as the bold step he took by dumping the People Democratic Party, PDP for the progressive Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN which has brought democratic dividend to the people of Lagos and Edo States, has endeared him to us.”
Speaking further Oyoro said: “The time to stop Government of selection by a small cabal is now, because this is the era of one man one vote and it is the duty of you canvassers to ensure the people in your area vote for the right candidate. We are also continuing this exercise in all 25 Local Government Areas of Delta State and the Local Government Area that mobilizes more votes for Obarisi Ovie Omo_Agege will be given an award.”
