In a bid to encourage and enhance the culinary skills of young Nigerian girls who would be future mothers, Alhaja Shakirat Bayewu, Chairperson of Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government Area, recently organized a Cooking competition for Senior Secondary Schools in the area through her pet project Women for positive change.
According to the coordinator of Women for Positive Change Alhaja Shakirat Bayewu, the competition which will be a yearly event is meant to encourage our young girls to be domesticated. “We want to help them discover, enhance and develop their cooking skills” she noted.
The preliminary edition of the cooking competition had three main categories with participants from different schools in the Ajeromi Ifelodun LGA.
A total of six young girls emerged from the first and second preliminary contest where they slunged it out at the grand finale.
At end of the competition Madukoma Chidinma from Awodiora senior secondary school, emerged winner while Ekwem Linda from Newland Senior Secondary School was 2nd and Ezedum Gloria from Oluwa Senior Secondary School came 3rd, most outstanding participant went to went to Ebagwu Patience from Greek Senior Secondary School
The event which was well attended had chairpersons from Oraide LGA, Apapa LGA and Ojo LGA in attendance.
