LAGOS State chapter of Action Congress of Nigeria,ACN, has appealed to the striking doctors and health workers in the state to go back to work so that negotiation can continue with the government.
Making the appeal over the weekend, state Chairman of ACN, Chief Henry Ajomale, urged them to adhere to the tenets of the profession which places much premium on human lives.
He said: “Please, go back to work so that negotiation with the government can continue. The people of Lagos are tired. We believe if they go back to work, there can be mutual understanding between them and the state government.”
He, however, said that contrary to the rumours making the round, the immediate past governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, was not behind the strike.
Ajomale said: “Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, one of the great party leaders has done enough to bring the strike to an end. The strike does not have anything to do with him. It is not true that he is behind the strike.
“He has met with the striking workers more than three times for them to go back to work.”
He, therefore, assured the striking workers that the government was ever willing to negotiate with them, urging them to soften their position in the interest of the people.
