OWERRI—No fewer than six registered political parties in Imo State, have, in a show of solidarity, announced their support for Governor Ikedi Ohakim’s second term bid.
The National Chairman of Unity Party, Chief Perry Opara, disclosed this at the Dan Anyiam Stadium Complex, Owerri, at Ohakim’s public declaration for his second term bid.
Opara gave the names of the political parties as the United Nigeria Peoples Party, Justice Party of Nigeria, Better Nigeria Peoples Party, Massive Movement of Nigeria and others, whose chairmen also stood with him on the podium.
“All our political structures have today been subsumed into the Ohakim New Face Organisation. We are therefore appealing to other political parties, which have chosen to field candidates for the 2011 governorship election in Imo State, to know that there is no vacancy in Government House, Owerri,” Opara said.
Addressing the people earlier, Governor Ohakim, said his administration would soon commence the disbursement of N2 billion agriculture loan to farmers in the state.
He chronicled the policies and programmes his administration intends to pursue if returned to office in the forthcoming general elections.
