IBADAN—Former Governor of Oyo State, Alhaji Lamidi Adesina has expressed concern over alleged arms proliferation within the members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state.

He said the arms build- up was in preparations for the 2011 general election which the party wants to win by force.

In a statement by the Director of Publicity and Strategy of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Oyo State, Mr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, Alhaji Adesina said recent violent attacks among opposing camps within the PDP where dangerous weapons and sophisticated arms were freely used leaves much to be desired.

According to the former governor, the alleged siege imposed on the people of the state by those expected to serve has reached its all-time crescendo in the past couple of months.

This development was as a result of Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala’s resolve to subdue every perceived opposition in his quest to retain power beyond May 29, 2011.
