Police arrest 2 kidnap suspects

By Evelyn Usman & Alex Onuoha

Police in Lagos have arrested two suspected members of a kidnap syndicate, who kidnapped a two-year and an eleven-month-old set of twins in their school premises at Coker area of Orile, Lagos, last Wednesday.

The duo, Izuchukwu Eze and Daniel Ogbona, who were paraded before newsmen yesterday at the office of the Command’s Public Relations Officer, reportedly stormed St. Michael Anglican Church Primary School, Coker at about 7.30 a.m.

The twins, both female, who were among other pupils, were reportedly cajoled with biscuits before they were successfully carried out of the school premises.

Trouble, however, started for the kidnappers after Izuchukwu, who first got to Alafia bus-stop where both of them planned to meet before taking the children to an unknown destination in Okokomaiko, could not find his partner.

Meanwhile, the twins’ absence was reportedly discovered by the headmistress, Mrs Nwalibe Nonye, who consequently raised an alarm, leading to a search around the vicinity.

Unfortunately for Izuchukwu, he was apprehended by some members of the Oodu’a Peoples Congress, OPC, while waiting for Daniel at the bus stop.

An angry mob almost lynched him before the arrival of policemen from Orile Division, who during interrogation succeeded in locating the second child.
