Trading on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) resumed Monday on a bullish note as the value of listed equities’ appreciated by N21.26 billion.
In particular equities value represented by the market capitalisation surged by 0.35 per cent to close at N6.141 trillion from N6.120 trillion at which it opened.
Another key performance indices the All share index garnered 0.35 per cent or 86.76 bases points to close at 25,065.46 points from 24,978.70 points.
Flour Mills Nigeria Plc led 33 other stocks on the gainers table with a gain of N1.35 to close at N70.06 per share, Cadbury Nigeria Plc followed with a gain of N1.00 to close at N30.00 per share and Dangote Flour Mills Plc garnered N0.78 to close at N16.39 per share.
Other share price gainers include: Ecobank Transnational Incorporation N0.73, Oando Plc N0.49, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc N0.46, Berger Paint Plc N0.40, Longman Nigeria Plc N0.37, National Salt Company Nigeria Plc N0.28, Costain West Africa Plc N0.23, among others.
On the other hand, Total Nigeria Plc led 18 other stocks on the losers table dropping by N11.01 to close N214.62 per share, Nigerian Breweries Plc followed with a loss of N1.69 to close at N76.30 per share and Nigerian Bottling Company Plc dipped by N1.00 to close at N31.00 per share.
Other share price losers include: Lafarge Cement WAPCO Plc N0.50, Diamond Bank Plc N0.20, Skyebank Plc N0.15, Fidson Healthcare Plc N0.15, Eterna Oil and Gas Plc N0.13, IHS Plc N0.13, RT Briscoe Plc N0.10, among others.
Equity trading appreciated by 19.21 per cent, meawhile a turnover of 357.62 million shares valued at N1.91 billion was recorded in 5,821 deals, in contrast to Friday’s turnover of 299.98 million valued at N2.89 billion in 4,027 deals.
The Insurance sub-sector dominated the other sub-sector on the sectorial analysis accounting for 50.12 per cent of the market turnover with 179.25 million shares valued at N99.96 million in 188 deals. Oasis Insurance Plc enjoyed the highest patronage in the sub-sector trading 166.66 million shares valued at N83.33 million in one deal, AIICO Insurance Plc followed with the exchange of 2.80 million shares valued at N2.70 million in 65 deals and Custodian and Allied Insurance Plc recorded 2.50 million shares valued at N6.95 million in 14 deals.
The Banking sub-sector followed on the sectorial analysis accounting for 39.18 per cent of the market turnover with 139.79 million shares valued at N1.29 billion in 3,548 deals. Zenith Bank Plc boosted activities in the sub-sector trading 27.18 million shares valued at N373.27 million in 433 deals, First Bank of Nigeria Plc followed with the exchange of 21.84 million shares valued at N286.22 million in 792 deals and Guaranty Trust Bank Plc recorded 21.09 million shares valued at N361.35 million in 826 deals.
