Nigerians have been charged to place the nation’s interest above their personal or sectional interest. Chairman of Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr Felix Owete, made the call.
He gave the charge while addressing the people of the council at Kwale. He commended the efforts of Nigeria nationalists, who fought for the independence of the country and enjoined the people of the area to always contribute their quota towards building a stable country.
The council boss commended the Federal and Delta State Governments for the manner they have handled the amnesty programme for repentant militants in the Niger delta region and their efforts towards ending the spate of kidnapping in Nigeria .
Appealing to the people of the area to participate actively in the forthcoming voters registration exercise, he charged them to support the ‘one man one vote’ campaign in the 2011 elections.
He urged youths of the area to shun criminal activities and identify with the various empowerment programmes initiated by government and resist any attempt to commit electoral malpractices in the 2011 elections. He stressed the need for the people of the area to work towards the development of the council.
