The Managing Director of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Mr. Terver Gemade, has pledged the readiness of the organisation to aid development of facilities at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, to enable it move to its permanent site.
Gemade who made the promise while receiving a delegation from the university, led by its Vice_Chancellor, Prof. Muhammad Hamisu Muhammad, in Abuja.
In a statement, the FHA boss was quoted as saying that the authority would also explore the possibility of participating in the development of the institution’s staff housing scheme. According to him, part of the authority‘s new vision is to assist sister establishments in solving their housing problems and advised the university to commence discussions with FHA Homes Limited, the mortgage arm of the organisation, with a view to making it originate mortgages for the staff housing scheme.
Gemade said that the FHA would immediately dispatch an assessment team to the university and also appealed to the vice_chancellor to assist the authority in the area of capacity building for its professional employees.
In his earlier remarks, the varsity helmsman had sought the assistance of FHA in providing professional assessment of companies bidding to enter into partnership with the university in the development of facilities on its permanent site.
Muhammad said the institution had operated from a temporary site for over 25 years and that he was determined to move it to the permanent site shortly. He urged the FHA to also explore the possibility of partnering with the university to develop its student centre and hostels.
