By Bishop David Oyedepo
LAST week, I told you that you have an enviable and glorious destiny. Also, I said that every child of God is predestinated to live a glorious life. I taught on one of the things it takes to take delivery of your glorious destiny—Consecration. This week, I will show you other things to do to take delivery of your enviable destiny—believe that it is practicable, desire it and be committed to a life of prayer and fasting, be committed to the Word of Life, be committed to fellowship, keep a Godly association and Godly exercise.
Believe that it is practicable: Everything in the kingdom answers to faith. God’s Word says: “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (John 1:12). You can never become what you don’t believe. It is to every man or woman according to his or her faith (Matthew 9:29). Believe in the practicality of His righteousness in the midst of a corrupt world that we live in. Believe in His Word that makes it real. Jesus has given you and I dominion over sin, when He rose from the dead. Sin has no more final say (Romans 6:14).
Desire it: What you don’t desire, you don’t deserve. “Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be fill” (Matthew 5:6). You can walk in the newness of life. Desire it! What you don’t desire, no matter how hard you pray, and no matter how high your faith, it will still not deliver the expected result. Desire His righteousness as a way of life in your life.
Be committed to a life of prayer and fasting: Be committed to a life of prayer and fasting. Why? It is because some problems won’t go except by prayers and fasting. The war against sin is a spiritual one; the battle for righteousness is a spiritual war. The war for righteousness cannot be won carnally; there is no psychological redemption for it. The denial of Peter, for instance, was machinated by the devil (Luke 23:31-32). So, behind that episode was satan. Also, there was a man called Judas. A time came when satan entered into him (John 13:27). Satan entered him to influence him. That’s why there is need for prayers! In Zechariah 3:1-5, we saw where satan was standing near Joshua resisting him, and forcing a filthy garment on him. Then God had to intervene to free him from the situation. So, the battle for consecration is a spiritual one. Be committed to prayer and fasting to stay clean.
Be committed to the Word of Life: Be committed to the Word of life as a way of life (Psalm 119:9-11). God’s Word is the spiritual shower system (Ephesians 5:26). When you leave the Bible only for Sundays, you have done without showers for one week. In no time, your wife and children become nonentities in your sight! So, if you don’t take regular showers, you become spiritually filthy, and then you subscribe to natural filthiness in the environment.
Be committed to fellowship: Be committed because “upon mount Zion, there shall be deliverance and holiness, and God’s people shall possess their possession” (Obadiah 1:17). When you are in fellowship in the church, heaven robs off on you (Hebrews 12:22-24). When you are not in church, you are on your way to hell. When you come to church, you are serviced, so that the engine of your system does not knock.
Keep a Godly association: Many people, today, are victims of negative and irresponsible association. Many divorcees were advised by their friends who are actual enemies, to frustrate their destinies. Many are in some dirty businesses today, entrapped by ‘friends’ (I Corinthians 15:33). Evil association is a curse, not a blessing.
Godly Exercise: Take practical steps to live clean and right (I Timothy 4:7-8). Also, endeavour to stay away from evil (I Thessalonians 5:22).
