ABUJA – After the recent ouster of the Golden Eaglets from the African Youth Championship qualifier, the Under-20 team, the Flying Eagles’ Coach, John Obuh has warned his wards to be wary of Mauritius, who they tackle this weekend, in a first leg final stage qualifier for the continental ticket.

Obuh said his team have had prepared adequately for the match, insisting that his players are in good shape to pound the Mauritians even before their home crowd.

“If what the boys displayed during our preparation is anything to go by, I should be celebrating our victory even before the game. I have the confidence in the team I’ve been able to assemble, and we are going to Mauritius to pick the maximum points at stake. We’ve been in camp for a while and the players are in good frame of mind to demolish any opposition.

“My prayer is not to sustain any injury so that the boys would be in Mauritius without any scratch to entertain as well as teach the Mauritian some football lessons. But the boys must take care not to underrate their opponents”, Coach John Obuh said.

Musa Amadu, the NFF acting general secretary said that a Flying Eagles win would go in some way to barnish the recent failure of the Golden Eaglets and Flamingoes in international matches

“We are praying that the Flying Eagles make us proud as we have lost out in the Under-17 category. Just last week, our Under-17 female, the Flamingoes, were defeated in the quarter finals of the Fifa Under-17 Women world Cup in Trinidad and Tobago. We believe that the Flying Eagles will not let the nation down”, Amadu said.
