Chevron staff kidnapped

By Emma Arubi
WARRI—UNKNOWN gunmen, weekend in Effurun, Delta State, abducted a staff of Chevron Nigeria Limited, Mr. Fred Ejutemieden, and took him to an unknown destination while the police authorities have arrested four suspects with his brand new Toyota Camry car in Kaduna State.

Narrating her ordeal to Vanguard, the victim’s wife said she became apprehensive when at about 10 to 11 pm on Friday night, her husband had not returned home, saying that it was unusual of him to stay out all night without him letting her know.

According to Mrs Ejutemieden, when at about 10am Saturday, she had not seen or heard from her husband, she called one of his friends, who was with him that evening and together they lodged a complaint at the Ekpan police station and began the tracking of the car, first to Abuja before it was finally recovered in Kaduna with the suspects.

The kidnappers only opened communication with a family friend demanding N25milion. A family friend who spoke with the kidnappers, told them that they could not source the money and would want to speaking to Fred to ask him where to find such amount but they (abductors) declined and cut off further communications.

Meanwhile, Vanguard gathered that Fred spoke with his family and friends yesterday morning saying he was fine. Police at Ekpan have concluded arrangement to transfer the arrested suspects and the car to Effurun, where they are expected to help in tracking the kidnappers of Mr. Ejutemieden.
