Orji searches for Akomas’ replacement

By Anayo Okoli

Umuahia — GOVERNOR Theodore Orji of Abia State has begun a search for a replacement for the state deputy governor, Comrade Chris Akomas, who resigned weekend, citing maltreatment, lack of respect for his office and marginalization of his office in the affairs of the state as some of the reasons.

Sources close to the Governor hinted that the search was being focus on the Ugwa/Ngwa area, which is Akomas’ zone.

Vanguard learnt that two persons are already being considered by the governor who does not want to see any lacuna to enable him pursue his last lap achievement before 2011, especially his target of making much impact in Aba.

The two persons are Mr. Uche Ihediwa, a lawyer and the one of the serving commissioner spared when the governor sacked his cabinet last month. He is in charge of Houusing Ministry.

The other person is Chief Acho Nwakanma, a former deputy governor in the state who incidentally became deputy governor when a former deputy governor, Chief Chima Nwafor was impeached during Orji Uzor Kalu administration.

Meanwhile, the state House of Assembly which is on recess will reconvene today, ostensibly to impeach Akomas who resigned but his resignation was said to have been rejected by the governor. The rejection was announced by Chief Anthony Agbazuere, the governor’s media adviser.
