Okagbare: God has blessed me

African 100m and long jump champion, Blessing Okagbare held a thanks giving service to God for her success at the Nairobi 2010 African Championships.

The service was held last Sunday at the First Baptist Church, Warri to honor God for her success at the Africa Athletics Championships. She won two individual gold medals in the 100 meters and long jump and one in the women’s 4 by 100 meters relay.

“I know that without God’s help I wouldn’t have attained this height. This is was why I gave thanks to God, because he has blessed me. I’m also asking him for more success at the future events,”said the athlete.

Delta State Sports Commission chairman,  Mr. Amaju Pinnick who was present at the ceremony said with her rising profile in the  world of athletics, Delta state government has been justified in the huge investment on her in ensuring that she got the scholarship to study in the United States of America.

“I am so happy that the huge amount invested on here were not a waste. The State Government under the leadership of Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan has been justified in the huge on her in ensuring that she got a scholarship to study in America.”
