Tragedy struck yesterday along Agege Motor Road, Lagos, when a food vendor was electrocuted.
The deceased, identified as Mrs Olusola Agbeloye, reportedly stepped on a 33KVA live wire beneath an electric pole at Shogunle bus-stop where she sold cooked rice.
Agbeloye, until her death resided at 18 Saka Street, Shogunle.
Eyewitnesses said the live wire fell off from an electric pole at the early hours of yesterday. Agbeloye, reportedly stepped on it in the process of trying to place a cooler of rice on the table in preparation for the day’s business.
Her scream alerted passers-by who reportedly rushed her to an undisclosed hospital where she was confirmed dead.
Policemen from Shogunle division, visited the scene, covered the live wire and called officials of Power Holding Company Nigeria, (PHCN) to fix it.
