ILORIN — The Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, will not reserve its presidential ticket for either Generals Muhammadu Buhari or Ibrahim Babangida in case they join the party unless they agree with its ethos.

The National Publicity Secretary of  the party, Alh. Lai Mohammed, said this yesterday in an interview with newsmen in Oro town, his country home, in Kwara State shortly after the 4th Lai Mohammed Ramadan Lecture in the town.

When asked if ACN  will offer either the two presidential aspirants of the PDP its ticket in case they join the party, he explained that even if it happened ACN cannot guarantee them automatic  ticket.

According to him, “Even If IBB or Buhari would want to contest on the platform of the party they could not be guaranteed automatic ticket. The rules and ethos of the party have to come to play.”

He did not however completely rule out the possibility of the party adopting a notable candidate not hitherto its member, stressing that the party could resort to this option but doing it by still following its constitution.

The ACN spokesman  blamed the Peoples Democratic Party’s ruling government for the black out in the country on Wednesday and Thursday occasioned by the strike of the employees of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN.

He said the black out was a manifestation of poor governance the country had been suffering over the years from  the ruling party.

Alh. Lai Mohammed recalled that the ongoing nationwide blackout among others is also a manifestation of the warning of ACN that the ruling party had lost focus from providing good leadership as a result of the zoning crisis and several other problems tearing the party apart.

Mohammed, who noted that the power sector was vital to the economic development of the country, described as a disappointment the attention being given the sector by the government.
