UGHELLI — AT least two persons were, yesterday, killed in Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State during a violent clash between a youth group and a suspected cult group.

Vanguard gathered that the crisis was over Shell Petroleum and Development Company’s, SPDC, employment slot for the youths, which  was allegedly taken over by one of the leaders in the community (names withheld).

One of the warring youths, who spoke to newsmen, said crisis started when the youths learnt that some councillors in the area, who were fighting the youths over the employment slots were holding a meeting with a cult group.

The source, who pleaded anonymity, said some of the youths drove to the councillor’s house to confirm the rumoured meeting, alleging that the councillor started shooting on seeing them with a double barrel gun.

The source added that over four persons also sustained serious injuries.

It was also gathered that some youths allegedly destroyed wind screens of over seven cars in the councillor’s compound in a reprisal attack.

When contacted, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Oleh, Mr. D. Kromda, said two persons had been arrested, adding that the police was already investigating the matter.
