Lady golfers treated to development clinic

Female members and friends of IBB Golf and International Country club in Abuja were treated to a development clinic last week.

The event which took place at the 18 holes golfing facilities saw the gathering of  both the amateur and professional players of the Golf club coming together to engage in  fitness exercise for several hours before engaging in the game of golf.

IBB Resident pro  Raphael Ohai and his assistant Dominic Andrew drilled the ladies and their friends on physical exercise and tutored them on the importance of keeping fit.

While Ohai took the participants on the elementary skills of playing golf, his assistant gave a lecture on the need for development clinic for golfers.  According to him, golf is the only game that has been scientifically proved that exercises every single muscle of the body at the same time. He added that golf as a gentleman’s sports cuts across all national and international barriers and can be played by the aged and the young at the same time. He stressed on the need for all categories of golfers to engage in development clinic once in a while.
The lady captain of the club, Mrs. Ekanem Ekwueme said that bringing their members and friends to engage in this form of exercise has proved to be a very good way to foster better relationship among the old members. It also attracts and sensitizes new members as well as removes the insinuations that golf is an elitist game.

Commenting on the benefits of the clinic, Senator Nkechi Nworgu, the Senate committee Chairman on Banking and Financial Institutions said the development clinic has helped to refresh her memory on the need for mental and physical fitness and promised to always find time out of her very busy schedule to come back to the game which she has abandoned for over two years due to time constraints.
