YENAGOA — A Deputy Speaker for the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Mr. Nestor Binabo, has emerged .
The Assembly also elected Mr. Fini Angaye, representing Kolokuma-Opokuma constituency II as its new Deputy Speaker.
The changes followed the elevation of the former Speaker, Mr. Werinipre Seibarugu as the new Deputy Governor of the state.
The minor changes were announced at yesterday’s sitting, shortly after the lawmakers had returned from the inauguration ceremony of Seibarugu as the new Deputy Governor, which took place at the Gloryland Castle in Government House.
In his acceptance speech, the new Speaker appealed with members to extend the support he enjoyed as a Deputy Speaker and the same hand of fellowship the former Speaker enjoyed to enable him function effectively.
The new Speaker promised to consult with members on issues concerning them and urged them to always work as a team to resolve matters amicably as legislators.
The new Speaker was nominated by Mr. Jonathan Obuebite and seconded by Hawkins Kalabo.
