London, the English capital city comes alive this weekend, as the Murray-Bruce clan storm the domain of the Head of the Commonwealth of nations (and Queen of perhaps, the oldest surviving monarchy in the world), Queen Elizabeth, for the wedding ceremony of June Jonah, daughter of the one of the executive directors of the family chain business, The Domino Stores.

The bridal trains began its movement from Nigeria, in the early morning of Thursday with the first batch of  family members storming the Muritala Mohammed International Airport en route, London City.

The second batch, according to family source, was the cynosure of all eyes as when they arrived to board  the evening flight to London.

June and Stephen

At the head of the team was the President of Silverbird Entertainment, Mr. Guy Murray-Bruce and some members of his immediate family.

In all, more than 154 adults, 11 children and grand children of Mama Margaret Bruce, (Matriarch of the Bruce’s dynasty) will witness the wedding of June, to her 6 foot 5 inches” Greek-Cypriot lover and syndicated loan’s analyst at Thomson Reuters.

The high society wedding holds at the very prestigious Mary Immaculate and St Peter Church, New Barnet, Hertfordshire, while guests will be treated to first class English hospitality at the reception ground in Dyrham Park Country Club, Hertfordshire.

An excited June who spoke to Showtime over the phone about her soon to be husband said

“We met at our orientation at work in October 2007. It just so happened that we ended up sitting next to each other and instantly got along.  We didn’t cross paths again till the Work Christmas party in December 2007.”

Stephen, she continued “was a very determined man and tried to identify June in the midst of more than 1000 people and as fate would have it, he found and asked me to dance.  … And the rest is history as they would say.”

“You asked how my Mum reacted when I told her I was marrying a non-Nigerian. She was very happy I’d met someone that adored and loved me as much as she does.

You can say that we are colour blind in our family and its more about his personality than what he looks like that counts to her.

And from the first day she met him, she called him son. In my heart that was when I knew he was the one. She also calls him the friendly giant, as he’s 6 foot 5 inches”

Will she miss her family Showtime sought to know? “I definitely will miss being in Lagos and being close to all the Murray-Bruces, but I hope to return home in the future with my husband.”

June’s wedding dress was bought in Los Angeles and it was made by Maggie Sottero. The engagement ring and wedding band was made by a company in Hatton Garden called Gemco. The shoes were none other than Jimmy Choo, her favourite.
