Driven by the desire to make mobile internet access more affordable to its growing number of data subscribers,
leading telecommunications company, Starcomms Plc., has unveiled a new volume base data renewal package exclusive for the MOTO Q and MOTO Q9C smart phones.

According to Mr. Tushar Maheshwari, Chief Commercial Officer of Starcomms Plc, the new volume base data renewal package is in two categories. While the iZAP 1GB volume base plan which is valid for 30 days cost N3,500.00 (three thousand five hundred naira only), the iZAP 2 GB volume base plan which also lasts for 30 days cost N4,500.00. (Four thousand five hundred naira only).
While expressing immense appreciation to Starcomms data subscribers for their sustained loyalty and patronage, he nevertheless said that the plans would not be available to data subscribers using other iZAP data devices like USBs, Express cards or PCIMCIA cards, adding that, the company will continue to deliver quality services to its subscribers.
Mr. Maheshwari further stated that the package code for SMS based payments for 2 GB is 247 while that of 1GB is 248, stressing that volume based packages work on the amount of data used or consumed by the user on connecting to the internet. The data usage is calculated both for upload and download.
While advising data subscribers on how to maximize the use of their data volume, he said that auto updates for any application installed on the device should be disabled noting that devices that are set to auto update use data volume allowance quicker.
He also said that users should avoid using back button while browsing; he counselled that instead, they should navigate from the page using the close and open button so as to conserve data usage.
Outlining some guides that can help data subscribers conserve data usage, he said one hour instant messaging is 0.25 – 1MB, one hour instant web browsing is 1.5 – 25 MB, download of 100 emails is 1-100MB, one hour facebook browsing is 2-80MB, download of one picture is 0.05-2MB, download of one MP3 file is 2-8MB, one software download is 70-800MB and one hour video streaming is 250-500MB.
