OWERRI— Ubogwu community, Awo-Omamma, Oru East local government area of Imo State, has been thrown into deep mourning following the shooting of a six-year-old primary two pupil of Ubogwu Primary School, Master Chidalu Nwosu, by a hunter (names withheld).

Vanguard investigations revealed that the late Chidalu accompanied his elder brother to fetch some firewood from their farm when the ugly incident occurred.

It was also gathered that the hunter shot the little boy, who was sitting at a corner in their farm, at a range that effectively ripped off the upper part of the boy’s neck.

“The shrill cry from the dying boy, which rented the silent farm zone, attracted the attention of his brother who rushed to the point only to behold Chidalu in a pool of his own blood who  died afterwards,” a villager that pleaded anonymity told Vanguard.

According to the villager, the obviously alarmed elder brother of Chidalu raced to their family compound to report the incident, as well as mentioned the name of the killer.
