The Federal Government has ordered the demolition of all properties and structures under bridges across the country.
This is a fallout of the fire incident that razed down the exhibit section of the Zone 11 Police Command constructed under the Onikan bridge in Lagos recently.
Comptroller of Works, Lagos Office of the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Engineer Ibemena Ejike, who disclosed this, said the federal government decided to demolish all buildings and structures underneath before the end of September to forestall a repeat of such incident in the country.
Ejike said there is now zero tolerance erecting any type of structure under bridges across the country, adding that to underscore its seriousness on the matter, the federal government has immediately withdrawn all trade permits issued to those trading under the bridges in Lagos and other states of the federation.
“In the next six months, the federal government will demolish all the buildings and structures.
