FORMER African Football king, Victor Ikpeba, has advised Lars Lagerback to avoid the type of mistakes  Adegboye Onigbinde made by dropping some key  players while preparing the Eagles to the Korea-Japan World Cup.

Onigbinde took over the reins of the Eagles from  Amodu Shaibu after Nigeria had qualified for the World Cup and dramatically dropped experienced players for out of sorts players.

“I know that Lagerback is an experienced coach but I pray that he does not make the  mistakes  Onigbinde made by dropping his experienced players”, Ikpeba popularly called Prince of Monaco for his lightening performance while at  the French Club, said.

Already, there are calls by many that Lagerback should introduce new players especially from the domestic league in the World Cup train as part of the re-building process in the Eagles.

“That does not mean that he should dump some experienced players for the new ones. I have never seen where one discards  experienced players except if you are Onigbinde. I used to respect Onigbinde but I have read that he said that some of those players were forced on him. It’s ridiculous”, he said on Brila FM.

Skipper Kanu Nwankwo is one of such players whose inclusion or exclusion in the Eagles has generated debate but Lagerback has made it known that Kanu remains ‘too good’ to be toyed with. He, however, insisted that all the players would merit to be included in his final list to the World Cup
