Obafemi Martins will return to Angola today and join the rest of the Eagles team to prepare for their make or mar group C game against western neighbours Benin Republic.
Obafemi who is yet to kick a ball in Angola 2010 flew to Germany and then to London to appear in court for a case filed against him by his agent.
“Obafemi wrote a letter to the coach asking for permit to go to London for a court case. And he was granted permission to leave,†said Peterside Idah the Eagles media officer.
“Obafemi is in London, he has a case in court with his agent.“The coach was aware but there was some debate over the actual date. Before he left he told us he only had to show himself in court as he didn’t want to be in contempt of court.
“Last time the case came up he wasn’t there and he didn’t want the judge to throw him in jail if he doesn’t show up or declare him wanted.â€
Obafemi was dragged to court by his agents NVA for indebtedness amounting to 300,000 British pounds. The case first came for hearing on November 19, 2009. Obafemi was not present, according to Idah, this was why it was necessary for Obafemi to be present otherwise judgement would passed against him.
