Lawmaker donates N.5m items to less privileged

UGHELLI—THE Member representing Ethiope West local government constituency in Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Ben Igbagba, has donated food stuffs, books and toiletries worth over N500,000 to widows, the aged and orphans in his constituency.
He also promised to build a hall for the Merciful Orphanage, Oghara.

Speaking during the donation at Oghara yesterday, Igbagba said the gesture was in the spirit of the yuletide, adding that it was his desire to alleviate the sufferings of the less privileged ones in the area.

He appealed to corporate organisations and well placed individuals to assist the less privileged people in the society within the limits of their resources.

Noting that he would lay the foundation stone of the orphanage that was being operated from a rented apartment, Igbagba said the building would be completed in a couple of months.

He said the building of the hall was to give the home a permanent structure of its own and to provide a conducive atmosphere for the inmates and operators.

In their separate responses, the proprietor of the Orphanage, Pastor Grace Ejemita and Mrs. Ewieta Akpomiemie, 91, thanked Mr. Igbagba for the gesture.
