It’s more of a home coming for former General Manager of Warri Wolves Mike Idoko as he leads his new side Sunshine Stars of Akure to Oleh for a week 14 GLOBACOM Premier League encounter. For Idoko, it’s like going back home, he said as he recalled his time at the Oil rich state.
“Warri will always be my home. And the team (Warri Wolves) is doing well because the state has people who know what it takes to move football forward. When I was leaving, some people asked if Wolves will survive without me and I was quick to tell them that with someone like Pinnick Amaju in-charge, there is no way the team will not do well.
Amaju understands the game and he has a governor who equally loves sports. Governor Uduaghan has done so much for football in particular and sports in general for Delta stateâ€, he said.
As Wolves play host to the Akure-based team tomorrow in Oleh, Idoko will be longing for a good result.
“I still love Warri Wolves and still remember the team in my prayers. They are a good side but I had to leave because of the new challenge in Ondo State. I love challenges and I am in Ondo to move football forward. My task is herculean but it is doable. With the caliber of people in the Agency I believe we will achieve our set targetâ€, Idoko said.
agaisnt high riding Warri Wolves in Oleh, Sunshine Stars may be asking for too much they focus on leaving Oleh with maximum points.
The only team that has left Oleh with three points was Enyimba of Aba and fans could not but agree that the Aba side deserved the maximum points. Wolves would not want a repeat of that and as they take on Sunshine Stars, their minds would be on the N1m bonus which awaits them should they beat Sunshine silly in Oleh.
