Enugu—AN early  morning fire Wednesday, gutted the residence of Enugu State Commissioner for Finance, Mrs Vivian Eze.

An eye witness, who preferred anonymity, told newsmen that the inferno started at about midnight and raged until about 4 a.m., reducing the building to rubbles.

Although no live was lost, the fire was said to have been caused by electrical fault, which started from one of the rooms. It was learnt that it took the fire fighting men sometime to put out the inferno, as the two fire fighting trucks that came had water but without the pre-requisite chemical that could put out the fire.

The bungalow, located at Bent Lane, Government Reserved Area, Enugu, was razed down, as only official and private vehicles parked in the premises were saved.

The Commissioner, in company of her husband, Chief Ikem Eze, said the fire was first noticed shortly after her return from a meeting.

She thanked God that no live was lost, adding that  “as for the material things lost, I accept it as vanity in the spirit of my religious belief.”
