Vice – Admiral Ganiyu Adekeye, retired, has promised to lift golf to greater height, in the country, as a new decade begins this year.

He stated this during a tournament organized in his hounour at the Igosun Golf Village Holiday Resort, in Kwara State , on Sunday.

Vice Admiral Adekeye said thya with the quality of golfers , who attended the tournament, showed that the standard is getting higher by the day.

Adekeye and his wife were honoured with a chietaincy title of Otun Talelase and Yeye Otun Talelase, by Oni of Ife, Oba Siduade.

The Captain of Igosun Golf Village and Resort, Abushie Odihili, revealed that the irrigation system of the golf course would be ready in April.

He said the resort, would fully be ready in 2012, making it the Home of Golf and Tourism in Nigeria .

I want apologize to the golfers, who took part in Sundays tournament, as the water irrigation system on the golf course, has not been completed, which affected play, but hopefully, it would be ready before April this year; assures Odihili.

The tournament, which saw about 57 golfers vying for honours, saw Mr. J. O koromu from Lafia golf club, fired 57 Nett to place first.

He was followed by Mr. K. Agboola of Rayfield, Jos, with 68 Nett, while Mr.A.O. Aadeniran ( Navy Town , Lagos ), was third with same nett score on countback.
