Tri-ontinental Ltd in conjunction with IBM recently hosted a technology update seminar in Lagos. This event was intended to discuss the critical role that the dynamic infrastructure plays in the IBM Vision.

Building a smarter planet is IBM’s point of view on how interconnected technologies are changing the way the world literally works.
That is, the systems and processes that enable: physical goods to be developed, manufactured, bought and sold; services to be delivered; everything from people and money to oil, water and electrons to move; and billions of people to work, govern themselves and live.

The just concluded  seminar held at the Civic Center, was attended by various CIOs and their teams, ranging from Banks, Telcos and consultants.

Speakers during the event are not limited to  Mr. Sola Olojede (Tri_Continental Ltd), focusing on IBM education, Ernest Fundirwa (Tri_Continental Ltd), on the new innovation center in Lagos, Ethelbert Mbama (IBM West Africa) on IBM software offerings and Dave Funnel (IBM South Africa), on IBM Storage trends, all in line with the ‘Smarter Planet’ theme.
Mr Ernest Fundirwa,  Storage Business Development Manager at Tri_Continental Ltd further added that “At a societal level and within our own organizations, we face a growing realization that our physical and IT assets, systems, and infrastructure are reaching a breaking point.  As the pace of business and the world continues to accelerate, the physical and digital foundations on which progress depends are straining to keep up. “
* The explosion of data, transactions, and digitally_aware devices is straining IT infrastructure and operations.
*Exponential growth in communications subscribers and services is exposing limitations in bandwidth and storage capacity.

* Supply inefficiencies as well as demand spikes put pressure on energy and utility systems.
* Clogged and congested roadways impact human productivity.
* And networks, supply chains, and borders face a proliferation of new risks and threats.
Tri-Continental Ltd & IBM will continue to host similar events regularly in an effort to keep customers up-to-date with the latest technologies.
