Serena Williams enjoyed a winning end to the season as she proved too strong for her sister Venus in the final of the WTA Championships in Doha, to prove why she is the dominant force in women’s tennis.

Serena celebrated moving back up to world number one with a commanding victory over her older sister, as she came out on top with a 6-2 7-6 success after 84 minutes of tennis at the Khalifa Stadium.
Serena broke Venus twice in a one-sided opening set and never faced a break point herself throughout the match, despite Venus making more of a fight of it during the second set.

It was not to be in the second-set tie-breaker though as Serena quickly opened up a winning gap, and she was soon celebrating her second season-ending title and her 35th career victory. There was only ever going to be one winner in the final, as Serena inflicted a second quick-fire defeat on Venus after also winning their clash in the round robin stage.

In the 22nd time the two siblings had met, Serena took her winning record to 13-10 after a fourth straight victory over her big sisters this year.
