ABUJA—The 2009 edition of the Zik Lecture titled: “The African Woman and the Challenges of the Global Economic Crisis,” will be delivered by First Lady, Hajia Turai Yar’ Adua.

With over 60 per cent of Africans living below the poverty line,  the lecture will among others beam the searchlight on the African woman and how she can cope with the economic crisis.

Imo State Governor, Chief Ikedi Ohakim will chair the event with former First Lady of Britain, Lady Cherie Blair, as special guest of honour. For over a decade, the Zik Lecture has been providing a platform for robust  public discourse on national and global issues.
