INC chairman makes case for new constitution

By Emma Arubi

WARRI—CHAIR MAN, Ijaw National Congress (INC), Western Zone, Chief Samson Y. Mamamu, said  yesterday that Nigeria deserved a constitution that would accommodate and address the fears of all confederating groups, considering her status as a multi-ethnic entity.

He also called for the inclusion of clergymen into strategic positions in government, as that would assist in pulling the country out of the overwhelming corruption it is in at present.

Mamanu, who doubles as the General Overseer of God’s Ministry International Incorporated, made the call during this year’s four-day convention of the church in Salvation City, near Ogbe-Ijoh, Warri South West Local Government  Area of Delta State.

According to him, in view ot the success recorded so far with the amnesty programme, time has come for the Federal Government to immediately commence the massive development of the Niger Delta.

He noted that the immediate commencement of such development, particularly along the coastline, would be a testimony that government was departing from its previous lip-service and prepared to carry out its promises to the region.

He maintained that until government commenced such development, the amnesty programme would remain pregnant, adding that what it would give birth to was anybody’s conjecture.
