ABUJA – Besides the over N9.5 billion provided for the hosting of the forthcoming Fifa Under_17 World Cup, the cadet championship is set to gulp another 3.6 million Euros.


Towards this end, the Federal government has appropriated an extra 3.6 million Euros for health and safety measures!
This piece of information was contained in the country’s presentation at the African Union Conference of Ministers of Sports, the third in the series which ends today in Abuja .

The draft of the meeting, which would be adopted by the participants from 53 independent nations in the African continent, however stated that eight venues are ready for the Fifa Under_17 World Cup and so are the hotels to accommodate the visitors.

“Security measures are in place according to Fifa standards. The government of Nigeria had to appropriate an extra 3.6 million euros for health and safety measures. Generally, the country is well prepared for the event and also wishes to leave a legacy from hosting it”, thus were contained in the draft to the meeting to be adopted Friday.

While responding to questions after the official opening of the meeting yesterday, Sani Ndanusa, the minister and Chairman National Sports Commission though did not elaborate, he said more funds is required for successful hosting of the championship.
