First Bank, one of the official national supporters of the Golden Eaglets who are campaigning in the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) U – 17 tournament scheduled to kick off tomorrow has appealed to Nigerians to troop out in their large numbers to muster support for the team against Germany.

Chief Marketing Officer, Marketing and Corporate Communications Celine Loader said in an interview in Lagos that the support was required to inspire and propel the team towards a successful defence of the title the team won in Korea two years ago.

She said “We at the First Bank will do our best to mobilise massive support for the team. We also know the implication of quality support by the home crowd during international tournaments. We have no doubts that the team will be propelled to achieve a resounding success with an outstanding support by Nigerians.”

Undoubtedly, the chief marketing officer said the tournament presents one of the best opportunities for the country to set the record by being the first country to successfully host and defend the competition.

She said there was no better time than now for such record to be created given the epileptic performances of other national teams. “We have had not very positive results with some of the national teams lately and that explains the importance we should attach to the level of support and mobilisation for the team during the event.”

Loader emphasised the need for the Eaglets to win its first group match against Germany on Saturday in Abuja. “It is important that Eaglets win the match against Germany on Saturday.” She said the resultant effect will be dramatic, saying it could galvanize the team to play all the way to the final.
