The Green Eagles step out Sunday against the Black Mambas of Mozambique in Abuja in a World Cup and Nations Cup qualifier  that the result would not be important as long as Tunisia win their tie against the Harambee Stars.

The North Africans are leading the group with eight points against Nigeria’s six points. The Eagles shot themselves on the foot in their last match  throwing away their lead two times to draw 2-2. And as the Eagles battle Mozambique, the only thing that would restore confidence that Nigeria might make it to the World Cup is for the Eagles to win here and hope the Tunisians lose against Kenya at home.

Wolfsburg of Germany attacker, Obafemi Martins who is making a come-back to the team has promised to do his best to ensure that the Eagles pick the three points. “This is not the time for talking. I prefer that my leg do the talking on Sunday. And I pray that my colleagues put in their best. We deserve to beat them and I promise to play my best”, Martins pledged.

Osaze Peter Odemwingie, the only vibrant player in the team also begged Nigerians not to abandon the team. “I beg that people come out to support us as they did in our match against Tunisia. Anything can happen in football.

The important thing is for us to play well and win hoping that something happens to the Tunisians for us to take over”, Osaze who is yet to come to terms with the dismal performance of the Eagles in the match against Tunisia said.
