Militant leader surrenders arms

Yenagoa – An unknown militant leader operating on Nun River in Akassa kingdom yesterday surrendered 15 arms and 308 mixed ammunition to the state chapter of the Presidential Amnesty Implementation Committee.

However, most of the repentant militants who were accommodated at the Imiringi rehabilitation centre, which is also the Federal Government Girls College, have deserted the place after looting the mattresses and beddings at the centre.

The repentant militant, who gave his name as Ayibatari Odio, aka The Great Kally, was operating along the Nun River in the deep swamp of Akassa kingdom on the Atlantic fringe.

Weapons surrendered by the militant leader, who claimed to have 106 boys under his control, include 3 G.3 rifles, one sub machine, among others.
