2011 poll: Gov Gaidam may reshuffle cabinet

By Bala Ajiya

DAMATURU – There are indications that the Yobe State Governor Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam will drop some members of his cabinet and major aides in a major cabinet shake-up to strategise for the 2011 election.

Vanguard investigation revealed that the governor is not comfortable with some members of his cabinet that he inherited from the late Governor Mamman Ali because these members lack grassroots support to bring overwhelming victory for Gaidam in the 2011 election.

Vanguard gathered that most members of the cabinet lack political charisma but were only being favoured by the late governor because of their loyalty.

Already, some commissioners have been penciled down for removal just as some politicians have also been listed for appointment into the cabinet. The governor was in Saudi Arabia one week before the end of Ramadan, partly to have enough time to work on the cabinet reshuffle.

Gaidam was sworn-in as governor after the death of Mamman Ali in January.
