Delta State Honourable Commissioner Directorate of  Youth Development Reverend  Omatsola Williams has commended participants in the just concluded 5th edition of the “Youth for Golf” tournament organized by the Directorate in conjunction with the Ibori Golf and Country Club, Asaba for their fair performances.

The 5th edition which also coincided with activities marking the 2009 International Youth Week celebration in Delta State was co-sponsored by Globacom and was aimed at encouraging youths to acquaint themselves with the basic rudiments and etiquettes of the game of golf. Commissioner Williams while addressing the over 60 youths who participated in the tournament, commended them for learning fast and for their fair performance while on course, and encouraged them not to relent in their efforts as the Club is determined to catch them young.

Hon. Williams who is also the Lady Captain of the Club expressed satisfaction with  the turn out which she said was encouraging and urged them to show more zeal and commitment as they stand the chances of winning scholarship to study abroad.

She said that the course was open for them to practice at 5:00pm every Mondays and advised them to utilize the opportunity to improve on their performance.

At the end of the tournament, Vincent Ogbonna emerged the best gross winner by scoring 27 net over 5 holes, closely followed by Eke Chukwudi who scored 29 net on count back. Isaac Agbadobi also got 28 net to place 3rd while Akori Joseph came fourth and Emmanuel Maduagwu took 5th position in the male category.
