As you read this,Nigeria’s Order of Merit leader Edet Umoh and Christian Godfrey, both of IBB Golf and Country Club, Abuja are in Malaysia for the World Cup of golf qualifier which tees off on August 26 at the Seri-Selangor Golf and Country Club, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Last year, the duo,  Gboyega Oyebanji and Andrew Oche Odoh represented Nigeria and missed qualification for the World Cup by the whiskers.

This year, Umoh and Godfrey are confident that they will surpass the standard set by Odoh and Oyebanji. “We have a good team. At the moment we are swinging well and confident that we will qualify for the World Cup. We have put in a lot of preparation and we are in good shape for the competition”, Umoh said.

The Nigerian team to the World Cup is sponsored by Big Treat. Ikeja based professional Femi Olagbenro (Team captain) and representative of the sponsor shares the optimism of both players.

“We have learnt a lot from Odoh and Oyebanji who blazed the trial last year and I can assure Nigerians that Umoh and Godfrey will do Nigeria proud in Malaysia”, he said.
