Kano Pillars suffered a 2-0 defeat in the hands of Al Hilal of Sudan in their third game of the round robin stage of the African Champions League to concede leadership of the group to the Sudanese side which now has seven points against Pillars’ four.

After a scoreless first half, the host side playing on their Omdurman ground scored the opener 10 minutes on resumption through a penalty taken by M. Eltahir before H. Mohamed sealed victory for the homers on 68th minute.

Before Friday’s encounter, both sides were at par on four points but the Nigerian flagbearers were on top with superior goals following their 3-1spanking of another Sudanese side, El Merreikh who also played to Zesco FC of Zambia yesterday.

Meanwhile Nigeria’s second representatives, Heartland of Owerri will today at the Dan Anyiam Stadium host Etoile Du Sahel of Tunisia. It their second consecutive home match after they despatched Zimbabwe’s Monomatapa 3-1 on the same ground a fortnight ago.

Media officer of Heartland, Cajetan Nkwopara said the players are highly motivated after the state government settled some of the players outstanding allowances. Their coach, Kelechi Emeteole has also assured that the visitors would fall as the team have worked both on their strength and weaknesses
