The board of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria has appointed an eight_man investigation panel to unravel the immediate and remote causes of the recent dope failures by Nigerian athletes.
President of the AFN, Chief Solomon Ogba while announcing the constitution of the panel yesterday in Berlin, Germany, said that more worrisome was the fact that all the athletes that failed the dope tests were females.
“ Among other things, we want to know why it is only female athletes and why it is only a particular drug that is involved,” observed the AFN president.

He insisted that this present board would stick to its Zero_Tolerance for dope stance, no matter the athletes involved. The panel, which will begin work as soon as the Nigerian team to the World Championships, which ended yesterday, returns to the country, has Dr. Ken Anugweje as chairman. Other members include, Dr. Akin Amao, Barrister (Mrs) C. Nwandu, Mr. Elias Gora, CSP Steve Hasso, Dr. (Mrs) Oby Obodozie and Dr. Lanre Glover. Mrs Maria Wophill is to serve as secretary to the Panel.
