World football governing body FIFA has now set August 7 as the new date for the Draw Ceremony of the FIFA U-17 World Cup finals, which Nigeria will host October/November this year.
The ceremony, usually the first big event for an upcoming tournament, will take place at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.

On Tuesday, the various sub –committees set up for the successful running of the work of the Local Organizing Committee, ‘Nigeria 2009’ were inaugurated in Abuja.
Few days ago, FIFA decided that eight venues will now be used for the three–week, 24 –nation tournament, and included Warri and Kaduna in the list of prospective cities that will host the world. Others are Lagos, Ijebu-Ode, Calabar, Enugu, Kano and Abuja.
Ten years ago when Nigeria hosted the FIFA U-20 World Cup finals, eight cities were deployed: Lagos, Kano, Bauchi, Kaduna, Ibadan, Calabar, Port Harcourt and Enugu.
