One member of the   Nigerian team to  the World Cup qualifier later in the year, Umoh Edet is now in Johannesburg ahead of the team’s departure later in August.

Edet who is the second player to have made a second win this season has said his trip was to consult with his coaches and psychologist and keep his game on  tip-top form ahead of the international event.

The 2009 PGA Championship winner believes that the trip would make a lot of difference when   the World  Cup tees off  later in the August. This is Nigeria’s  second attempt at the World Cup in eight years.

“We will be trying to  dobetter than what any other team has ever done in the history of Nigeria’s participation” he said before he left the country on Thursday.

Last year’s performance by the duo of Oche Odoh and Gboyega Oyebanji has set up a higher measure expectation from the 2009 team.
Nigeria’s finished in fourth place and was and missed picking the World Cup ticket that a third place would have fetched them.

This year’s edition of the qualifier would be staged at the Seri Selangor Golf Club, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from August 27 to 30 and Nigeria has been listed as one of the five African countries that would vie for the three Afro-Asia slot from the center.
The final of the World Cup of Golf is billed for China in November and the defending Champion is Sweden.
