Nigeria’s Under-17   team, the Golden Eaglets, will tackle two-time African champions Gambia next month, according to the team coach, John Obuh.

Obuh told, “We are scheduled to take on Gambia in Banjul as part of our build-up to the World Cup. What is left now is for the authorities to agree the dates for the friendly.”

Gambia won their second African Junior championship in Algeria earlier this year. They first grabbed the trophy when they hosted the competition in 2005.

The Eaglets are currently on a playing tour of Ghana and Togo.They have also been invited to a regional CECAFA tournament and officials announced they will train at the Aspire Academy in Doha, Qatar.

Nigeria are the defending champions of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup after they pipped Spain in the final in 2007 in Korea.
