I want a new Nigeria where oil’s not taken away, leaving us underdeveloped – Dickson

By Anthony Ogbonna Bayelsa state Governor, Seriake Dickson has said that although Nigeria is better off being united as a one big, diverse country with its beauty of a multifaceted culture, it however must be restructured into a nation of compassion, truth and love void of deceit and injustice especially to the people of Ijaw nation. Governor Dickson said what he wants is a new Nigeria where oil is not taken away from the Niger Delta region to develop other places while leaving the region impoverished and under-developed.

Biafra has not been defeated – Wole Soyinka

On July 6, 1967, civil war broke out in Nigeria between the country’s military and the forces of Biafra, an independent republic proclaimed by ex-Nigerian military officer Odumegwu Ojukwu on May 30 of that year. The war killed more than 1 million people, many of whom died from starvation. It ended in January 1970 with the reintegration of Biafra into Nigeria.
