Safe environment: Stakeholders advocate national policy on elimination of lead in paints
Following the ongoing national campaign to eliminate lead from paints in Nigeria, environment stakeholders who gathered at the formal release to the public, the study on lead solvent-based paints for home use in Nigeria under the auspices of International POPs Elimination Network (IPEN), in Lagos weekend by Sustainable Research and Action for Environmental Development (SRADev), an NGO, have called for urgent adoption of a national mandatory policy that will phase out the manufacture and sale of paints containing lead, a major source of childhood lead poisoning along with lead-contained dust.
