ON Monday, the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate, PTAD, began the first phase of the verification exercise of NITEL/MTEL Pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme, DBS, nationwide at    eight centres between January 15 and 27, 2018. The second phase is scheduled to hold between February 5 and 13, 2018.

ASSOCIATION of former Telecomms Employees of Nigeria, ATEN, has directed its members, mostly made up of former workers of Nigerian Telecommunication Limited, NITEL and its mobile arm, the Mobile Telecommunication Limited, Mtel, not to participate in the proposed verification exercise by Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate, PTAD, insisting that the move contravenes the 20 years pension buy-out awarded to them by the court in 2014, when the companies were liquidated.
